Mississippi State Tax Extensions: Business, Personal, Information and Nonprofit Tax Returns

An automatic extension of time to file your personal income tax return is granted
on having the approval of federal tax extension(Form 4868). You can use the Form
80-180 to make the tax payments.
An automatic 6-month extension of time will be allowed if Form 83-180 is properly
filed by the due date with all required taxes remitted. Additional extensions of
time beyond the 6-month automatic extension will not be granted. The State Tax Commission
will not return a confirmation.
Taxpayers having a tax liability who request an extension of time must remit the tax due with their Mississippi application for extension. Corporations may submit Form 83-180 on or before the due date of their returns, including remittance for any remaining tax liability, and receive an automatic extension of time to file their tax returns.
The authorized extension of TIME to file does NOT extend the time for payment of the income tax or Franchise tax due. Interest and Penalty shall apply on any underpayment of tax.
If no tax liability exists on the due date of the return, the Commissioner may recognize an extension of time authorized and granted by the Internal Revenue Service for the filing of annual income tax returns.
